How to Transfer Files from PC to Phone Without a Cable
Send a PDF, photo, presentation, or document from a Windows PC or Mac to your phone without a USB cable, messaging yourself, or uploading it to cloud storage.
Move a file from your computer to your phone
You downloaded a ticket, edited a presentation, or received a PDF on a computer and now need it on your phone. Sending it to yourself by email works, but creates another stored copy and may require opening an account. A browser-to-browser transfer is often faster.
Open Drop on the computer and scan the QR code with the phone. Once the browsers pair, select the file on the computer. The phone receives it through the temporary private session.
Simple transfer instructions
- Visit
drop.cs7.ukon the PC or Mac. - Scan the displayed QR code with the phone camera.
- Keep both browser tabs visible and the phone awake.
- Select the file on the computer.
- Accept or download it on the phone.
- Check that it opens correctly, then end the session.
The same process works for common documents, photos, PDFs, and many other file types. You do not need matching operating systems: the browsers handle the connection.
Avoid the send-to-myself habit on shared PCs
Logging into email or messaging on someone else's computer can expose far more than one file. An inbox contains contacts, password-reset messages, conversations, attachments, and personal details. Incognito mode reduces local history but cannot guarantee the computer is trustworthy or that you remember to sign out.
Drop requires no personal login on the other computer. The temporary pairing credentials are carried by the QR link, and the file is designed to travel directly between browsers whenever the network permits.
Troubleshooting
If pairing succeeds but the file does not move, a firewall, VPN, or restricted network may be blocking WebRTC. Try a trusted home or mobile network. Keep the tabs open until the progress finishes. For a large file, close unused apps or send it in smaller parts so the receiving browser has enough memory.
