iPhone to Windows file transfer
How to Transfer Files from iPhone to Windows Without iTunes
Transfer iPhone photos and documents to a Windows PC using Safari and a PC browser—without iTunes, iCloud sign-in, or a Lightning cable.
Transfer iPhone files to a Windows PC without iTunes
Apple and Windows devices can work together without installing iTunes or signing into iCloud on the PC. When you only need a few photos, a PDF, or a document, pairing Safari with a browser on Windows is a practical shortcut.
Open Drop on the Windows PC. Use the iPhone camera to scan the QR code, open the private link in Safari, and select the files from the iPhone. Keep both pages open while the PC receives them.
What you need
- An iPhone with a current Safari browser.
- A Windows PC with a modern browser.
- Internet or network access that permits WebRTC connections.
- Enough free memory and storage for the selected files.
You do not need iTunes, the iCloud for Windows application, a cable, or a new account.
Transfer steps
- On Windows, visit
drop.cs7.uk. - Scan the QR code using the iPhone camera.
- Open the detected link in Safari.
- Choose photos or browse files from the iPhone picker.
- Leave both devices awake until transfer progress completes.
- Save the received files on Windows and verify them before ending the session.
When this method is especially useful
Browser transfer is useful at a print shop, in a meeting room, at school, or on a family PC. Instead of signing into iCloud and exposing your photo library, account settings, or saved session, you authorize access only to the individual files selected through the iPhone picker.
This method is also convenient when the available cable is charge-only, the PC lacks the correct port, or company policy prevents software installation.
Limitations to remember
Direct transfer depends on both browsers staying connected. Some managed networks block peer-to-peer traffic. Original-resolution videos can be large, so move them separately and check available memory. The receiving computer still creates a downloaded copy; remove that copy afterward if it is not your computer.
The privacy advantage
Drop is designed so file contents travel through an encrypted browser connection and are not stored by the Drop service. It avoids placing your Apple ID password or complete iCloud library on the Windows machine just to retrieve one item.
Move the file, not your account.
Use Drop to transfer directly between two browsers without signing into email or personal cloud storage on the other device.
