Android to Mac file transfer
How to Transfer Files from Android to Mac Without USB
Move Android photos, videos, PDFs, and downloads to a Mac through the browser, without installing Android File Transfer software or connecting a USB cable.
Send Android files to a Mac without USB
Android and macOS do not always exchange files smoothly over a cable. The Mac may not recognize the phone, the phone may remain in charging mode, or software installation may be restricted. For a quick transfer, use the browsers already on both devices.
Visit Drop on the Mac, scan its QR code with the Android phone, and select the files from the phone. The paired browsers attempt a direct encrypted connection.
How to do it
- Open
drop.cs7.ukon the Mac. - Scan the private QR code with the Android camera or QR scanner.
- Open the link in Chrome or another modern Android browser.
- Select photos, videos, PDFs, or files from Downloads.
- Keep both screens awake during the transfer.
- Save and open the received items on the Mac before closing the session.
There is no account to create and no Android file-transfer utility to install. This makes the method useful on a borrowed Mac or a managed office computer where you cannot add software.
Find files on Android
The Android file picker may show Recent items first. Use its menu to choose Images, Videos, Downloads, or a specific storage location. If an image appears only inside a messaging app, save it to the device first, then select that saved copy.
Keep a shared Mac clean
A browser-to-browser connection avoids entering a Google or cloud-storage password on the Mac. It does not, however, remove the downloaded file from the Mac. If the machine is shared, finish your printing or editing task, delete your downloaded copy, empty the Trash if appropriate, and end the Drop session.
If it will not connect
A corporate firewall, VPN, school network, or tightly configured hotspot may block peer-to-peer traffic. Try a trusted network that you control. If a large video struggles, transfer one item at a time and close memory-heavy applications.
A practical cross-platform bridge
Because Drop works at the browser layer, it does not require Android and macOS to share the same ecosystem. It is a simple option when you need the file now and do not want a cable, installer, or cloud login.
Move the file, not your account.
Use Drop to transfer directly between two browsers without signing into email or personal cloud storage on the other device.
